The Wedding of Noelle & Tony.

A beautiful September day and the sun was shinning like it was mid-summer. Rath Church, Co.Laois was beautifully decorated in anticipation of Noelle and Tony's big day. Everything ran perfectly and the happy couple were totally at ease and relaxed all day as the Autumn sun shone in the cloudless sky. The photographs we got were just great and looked like we were in a different country.

We had arranged for a friend to chauffeur the Bride and Groom in a beautiful old Black Hillman car, and this set the theme for the photos which we took on Tony's farm after the ceremony. I hope the fun we had is conveyed in the photos from that wonderful day.

Brian & Pamela's Wedding Day.

On a beautiful Day in Emo Chapel, Brian Flanagan & Pamela Conroy came together with all their friends and family to say 'I Do'. It was a perfect setting and everything ran so smoothly, in no small part because of the lovely relaxed mood of everyone on the day.

One of the nice things about shooting weddings is getting to know the extended family and friends of the couple. Feeling comfortable is essential for getting great shots on the day. If I can get to know all the extended family it means they are happy to allow me to capture intimate moments..and also they feel confident enough to trust and ignore me!! Sometimes by ignoring me, they let me get on with the job of capturing those special moments.

Sometimes photos just come together as planned, sometimes they evolve out of an idea. This image came out out of the later. It came from one of the shoots I did for Banks Hair & Beauty some time back. But the idea was going round my head long before. I was asked to make an image for an EP cover by a very talented musician from Wicklow and the theme was 'setting thoughts or emotions free'. So I married a pic from this shoot with a pic I took of crows roosting in the Downs..I thought it might be a cool idea to try to visualise how thoughts become reality!! Let me know if you think it works ;)..

A little while back I had the pleasure to work with a great crew in Bankz Hair and Beauty Portlaoise. This is just one of my favourites from that shoot. When John Coss and Ciara O'Rielly decided upon this hair style it lead me to draw inspiration from Geisha ladies of the far east. The dress for this was borrowed from David Keane in the Storeyard (also in Portlaoise) and I managed to use it, and a few others, for more pics on other shoots. For the excellent make-up I must thank Roisin Balwin..and a big thanks to Barbara Aldritt, and all the staff in Bankz. Lastly, to Clodagh Mulligan for being a good sport and a great model to work with.

Here is the official video for James O'Connor & the Friendly Stranger's new single 'Lorraine'.

We filmed it in Golden Egg Studios during the recording of the single a little while back. The single will be launched in Kavanagh's Pub next Saturday the 9th of May.

I'd like to thank James for asking me to film and photograph the day. Also Niall Harney the great Laois Bassist, Matt Cross the most excellent drummer, Brian O'Mahoney the multi-talented singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer..who also editied the video.

I can't wait for the launch next week, and hope to see you all there to support a great talent.

Fog descends on Forest..

There's nothing better than heading off into a Forest on a foggy night! The fog landed on us yesterday and stayed for the night. At around 9pm when things were quiet in my house I got into the car and drove to a few spots I thought might look cool in the Fog. I eventually settled on Togher Wood. After walking around for a bit I realised that the fog was a bit too heavy for my hand torch to make any great light source.So, instead I drove the car as close to the forest as I could, left the lights on and stumbled about with my hand torch trying to find a good angle to make a pic.

I settled on the pic above..the setting on the camera were 30 sec. @ f11 (w/tripod).
